Aces winger Trupp gets AHL deal, but stays with Aces

Posted by DOYLE WOODY, on February 7, 2014

Good news for Alaska Aces winger Evan Trupp of Anchorage, who the AHL's Abbotsford Heat, Alaska's affiliate, have signed to a standard AHL deal.

Trupp sticks with the Aces on loan and will be in the lineup tonight against Stockton.

The move likely gives the Aces salary-cap relief. A player under AHL contract only costs an ECHL club $525 a week against the salary cap. Gonna go out on a stout limb and say Trupp's ECHL deal was for more than $525 a week, so the Aces make out on that front.

Trupp in a recent stint with the Heat, his first AHL gig, went well. He put up 1-3--4 totals in seven games. For the Aces, he's gone 10-20--30 in 33 games.
