Lundgren, Cabana set pace on Alyeska slopes

Sarah Lundgren and Barren Cabana skied to Alaska state championship titles Saturday in a slalom race at Alyeska Resort.

Cabana was quick on his feet and dominated both icy runs to win with a combined time of 1 minutes, 25.15 seconds. Charlie Lamb and Ross Johnson followed in second and third place.

Lundgren, who was third after the first run, used all her skills to overcome Margo Lane and Frances Ruth Carlisle on her second run. Making up a first run deficit of .14 seconds, she prevailed with a two-run time of 1:33.15. Lane and Carlisle finished second and third. respectively.

On Sunday, Alyeska will host the state super-G championship and the Alyeska Cup slalom.
