Troopers: Man's body found in Meadow Lakes area

A man's body was found in the woods northwest of downtown Wasilla on Wednesday, Alaska State Troopers said.

Palmer troopers received a report around 4:27 p.m. that the body was found in the woods of the Meadow Lakes area off Pittman Road, according to a dispatch posted Thursday. Troopers responded along with the Alaska Bureau of Investigation.

The State Medical Examiner's office is taking the body to Anchorage for an autopsy and identification, the dispatch said.

Troopers said an investigation into the circumstances of the death is under way.
