Local doctor honored by national EMS physicians association

Tucson, Ariz. – The National Association of EMS Physicians has announced an Anchorage physician as one of its 2014 award winners.

The Keith Neely Outstanding Contribution to EMS Award – Michael Levy, MD

This award is presented to an active or past member of NAEMSP who has provided significant leadership to the association. The award is named after the late Keith Neely, the first non-physician member at large to serve on the NAEMSP Board of Directors.

Michael Levy, starting with almost nothing, helped to build a three-day preparatory course for the new EMS subspecialty exam that has given NAEMSP members the tools to prepare. Holding a subspecialty review course was a substantial risk for the association, but Dr. Levy’s leadership, energy, organization and know-how in getting the job done exceeded the the board's expectations.

Dr. Levy works as an Alaska Regional Hospital Emergency Department physician.
