Dusser, Ebner place 4th for UAA at region ski championships

Marine Dusser and Lukas Ebner skied to fourth-place finishes Friday to lead the UAA ski team on the first day of the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Association Championships in Minturn/Beaver Creek, Colo. 

Dusser finished the five-kilometer classic race in 15 minutes, 3.4 seconds.

Ebner posted a time of 25:05.2 in the men’s 10-K race. It marked his seventh top-five finish in nine races this season.

Four Alaskans, all skiing for Montana State University, cracked the top 15. In the women’s race, Jessica Yeaton placed eighth, Annie Liotta was 11th and Kate Backstrum was 14th. All three are from Anchorage. 

David Norris of Fairbanks took 10th in the men’s race. 

Colorado’s Rune Oedegaard won the men’s race in 24:10.9. Makayla Cappel of Denver won the women’s race in 14:30.2.
