NAHL: Kenai River scores a rare win over Fairbanks

Posted by DOYLE WOODY, on February 21, 2014

Been a tough season in the Kenai River Brown Bears' season series with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, but the Brown Bears gained a bit of rink redemption tonight with a 3-2 NAHL overtime win in Fairbanks.

Defenseman Vincent Stefan scored off assists from Alec Butcher and Jack Gessert at 1:16 of extra time.

That marked just Kenai River's second win in 11 meetings between the teams this season. Fairbanks is 9-1-1 against Kenai River, which is 2-8-1 in those encounters.

Zach Quinn stopped 31 shots for the Brown Bears, who play the Ice Dogs again in Fairbanks on Saturday night. After that, the teams still have four games remaining in their 16-game season series.

Fairbanks lost its six-game winning streak, though it now is unbeaten in regulation in seven straight.
