Letters: Schools making tough choices

AnchorageFebruary 23, 2014

I saw the Anchorage School Board meeting Thursday. It was difficult to watch the board be placed in the position of making decisions between “bad, worse, and worst” as school board president Tam Agosti-Gisler put it.

It was clear from watching that meeting that Gov. Sean Parnell’s consistent refusal to adequately fund education has placed school districts throughout the state in the position of choosing between bad and worse as they try to find a way to deal with the paltry funds afforded to Alaska’s youth.

When will we, the community, have enough? It is time that the community — parents and students — tell our state representatives that funding for education is a priority for our state.
