JUNIOR NATIONALS

Nordics double up

Gabby Armstrong, Ben Loomis and Somer Schrock doubled up on titles recently in the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Associations' junior national championships in nordic combined on the Karl Eid Ski Jumps and Hilltop.

Schrock won the men's U-20 competition by scoring the most jumping points (104.0) and registering the fastest five-kilometer ski in 13 minutes, 21 seconds. He combined with Tryg Gessner to win the team sprint.

Armstrong, third after the jumping, started her skiing 73 seconds out of the lead, but crushed the course in 14:05 to win the girls U-17 title. She teamed with Melissa Requist to win the team sprint.

And Loomis won the boys U-17 title by posting the best jumping total (239.0) and the eighth-fastest ski (13:21.). Stephen Schumann and Jared Shumate won the U-17 boys team sprint.

SPEEDSKATING

3 races, 3 winners

Game McGimsey, Steve Bergt and Lukas Stutzer each earned victories Sunday in long track speedskating races at Midtown Park.

McGimsey won the 500 meters in 53.75 seconds, Bergt claimed the 1,000 meters in 2:00.1 and Stutzer the 1,500 meters in 2:41.27
