Study: Thawing tundra emits more carbon

Nature.com: Scientists have found that the wetter the Arctic tundra becomes, the more carbon dioxide it gives off. If the tundra becomes increasingly warm and wet -- which is anticipated as global temperatures rise -- it might emit more carbon than expected, the work suggests. The conclusion comes from an elaborate experiment on a tundra lake near Barrow that involved installing plastic dikes and moving water between parts of the lake.
