State cracks down on towed fishing boats in Cordova

Link: The Cordova Times The state is telling Cordova's commercial fishermen in no uncertain terms that they must follow state trucking regulations when towing their boats on land. "Trucking may not be your industry, but when you pull out that boat, you become a trucker," said Jess Seward, a Department of Transportation commercial vehicle enforcement officer. Regulations to be enforced include mounted fire extinguisher, flares, driver medical card, commercial driver card and DOT numbers. And just because regulations haven't been enforced in the past doesn't mean they won't now, warned Alaska State Trooper Robin Morrisett.
