The seven were aboard a private skiff in northern Lynn Canal near Aaron Island. The Coast Guard received a mayday call just after noon from the 20-foot Hewescraft.

The Juneau Empire reported a 73-year-old man and a second person had been trapped under the overturned boat. The 73-year-old was unresponsive when pulled from the water, said Coast Guard spokeswoman Sara Francis.

Rescuers administered CPR on board an Alaska State Trooper boat. It landed at Auke Bay and an ambulance rushed the man to Bartlett Regional Hospital. Names of the people on board have not been released.
