Frequently Asked Questions
(and some answers)

Q. What is the Alaska Press Club?
A. The Alaska Press Club is an independent professional organization that provides continuing education, recognition and information to reporters across the state. The nonprofit, volunteer-led club hosts an annual journalism contest and organizes two major events each year: a three-day journalism conference and an awards banquet, held the final day of the conference.

Q. I want to enter the contest. When will new contest entry forms and membership renewal forms be available?
A. Entry forms for the 2004 contest will be mailed to members the last week in November. They will also be available online, at this site, after December 1, 2003.

Q. When is the contest deadline this year?
A. Contest entries must be postmarked by January 9, 2004.

Q. When is J-Week?
A. We're now calling it the Alaska Press Club Journalism Conference. And it'll be April 15, 16, and 17, 2004, at the Sheraton Hotel, in downtown Anchorage. For more information, look here.

Q. OK, so what's going on at this year's J-, I mean, the Alaska Press Club Journalism Conference?
A. The conference schedule has not yet been finalized, but will be e-mailed to members and posted on the Web in early March.

Q. I have more questions. Who can I contact?
A. If you have further questions, you may contact any current press club board member. Names and contact information are available here.
