Dimond shines

East High receiver Rickey Brown took a tipped pass away from Dimond High defenders Todd Brady, left, and Kenard Walker and then outraced the Lynx to the end zone in late August. The 83-yard play cut the Dimond lead to 28-21 with 1:41 to go, but Dimond held on to win. The victory was part of Dimond's 11-0 season and its first large-schools state championship since 1993.
