Alaska's Olympian

training
Chris Clark, a pathologist, ran the race of her life during September's Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. "It's amazing to be done with this. And I'm so happy because I think I performed as well as I could have," she said after finishing 19th in 2 hours, 31 minutes, 35 seconds, a new personal-best time. Clark did much of her training for February's Olympic trials on her treadmill. She won the trials in South Carolina's sweltering heat in 2:33:31 to become the nation's only Olympics-bound women's marathoner. (Photo by Erik Hill)
