Alaska's Olympian

Chris Clark, a pathologist, ran the race of her life during September's
Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. "It's amazing to be done with
this. And I'm so happy because I think I performed as well as I could
have," she said after finishing 19th in 2 hours, 31 minutes, 35 seconds,
a new personal-best time. Above, Lake Otis Elementary students gave Clark
a sendoff to Sydney with a lap around the nearby Wendler Middle School
track. Clark's sons Danny and Mathew, both Lake Otis students, and her
husband, John, accompanied her. (Photo by Erik Hill)
