Alaska's Olympian

Alaska 10K Classic
Chris Clark, a pathologist, ran the race of her life during September's Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. "It's amazing to be done with this. And I'm so happy because I think I performed as well as I could have," she said after finishing 19th in 2 hours, 31 minutes, 35 seconds, a new personal-best time. In June, a foot injury forced Clark to stop training for two weeks. But by August she was running 70 miles a week and won the Alaska 10-K Classic women's division in 34 minutes, 26 seconds, to finish 10th overall. (Photo by Evan R. Steinhauser)
