Rap act Macklemore & Ryan Lewis coming to Anchorage

You know Anchorage is growing up when indie music idols are marking the city an actual performance destination. The scheduled arrival of 30-year-old, Seattle-based, indie rap sensation Macklemore and his collaborator Ryan Lewis is the latest proof. The University of Alaska Anchorage concert board announces that the duo will be performing at the Egan Center in Anchorage on March 29, 2013.

After lighting up YouTube with a rap about thrift-store clothes shopping, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis's independently released, full-length debut album, "The Heist" is currently sitting pretty on both iTunes and Billboard's Top 40 lists.

Tickets for Macklemore & Ryan Lewis go on sale Feb. 1, for $20 in advance to UAA students and $30 to everyone else, or $25 and $35 at the door. This show is likely to sell out, so get your tickets online when they go on sale. Student tickets are only available at the UAA Student Union information desk, however.

Anchorage's growing indie street cred is also apparent from a scheduled appearance by off-the-beaten-path, multi-genre talent Mat Kearney, who will be playing at UAA's Wendy Williamson Auditorium on Feb. 26. Tickets go on sale Jan. 11
