Wanted: Armed, dangerous assault suspect loose in Anchorage

Anchorage Police are searching for 21-year-old Bukurim Miftari in connection with a violent assault of Kristen Reid, who is in critical condition at a local hospital after being found "clinging to life in a ditch" on Fairbanks Street Monday morning, according to a press release.

Miftari was tracked into the area of Old Seward and Grange Street around 9 p.m. Monday night but was not apprehended, although Alaska State Troopers' "Helo 1" helicopter provided aerial support and K-9 dogs were part of the ground search.

Reid and Miftari had been in a domestic relationship that Reid was trying to end, detectives learned during the course of the investigation. Miftari has been charged with first-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault, plus kidnapping and tampering with physical evidence.

Police believe that Miftari will attempt to flee the state, and may seek help from friends or relatives in the Anchorage area. Anyone assisting him could be subject to criminal prosecution, police warn.

Miftari is considered armed and dangerous. Police ask that anyone with information regarding Miftari's whereabouts call 911.
