Here are the top-paying jobs in Alaska

It's probably not a surprise that doctors are some of the best-paid people in Alaska. But a new list breaks down exactly which jobs, across all industries, rake in the biggest salaries.

Zippia, a career information company, recently published a ranking of the 100 highest-paying jobs in Alaska, using data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Family and general practitioners hold spot No. 1, with an average salary of $235,600. About 460 people in the state have that job. After that come psychiatrists ($234,130), obstetricians and gynecologists ($221,480), dentists ($217,120) and internists ($215,070) to round out the top five.

Petroleum engineers come in at No. 13, with an average salary of $146,650. Construction managers are at No. 19 with an average salary of $122,250.

On the lower end of the list, dental hygienists at No. 95 make an average annual salary of $84,430. Budget analysts make $82,910, landing them at No. 98, and the very last spot goes to construction and building inspectors, with an average salary of $82,510.

Health care jobs tend to dominate this top-paid list for other states too, according to Zippia. The Bureau of Labor Statistics' website shows that 13 of the top 20 highest-paying jobs are in health care across the country.
