Vehicle fire slows outbound lanes of Glenn Highway

Update, 3:40 p.m.: The Anchorage Police Department reported that all lanes of the Glenn Highway had opened by 3:30 p.m. following a vehicle fire that temporarily shut down the highway's outbound lanes Wednesday.

Update, 12:55 p.m.: Police say a single lane of the Glenn Highway has been reopened. Responders are working to clear the vehicle fire. There were no reported injuries.

Original story: Anchorage police say all outbound lanes of the Glenn Highway are closed due to a vehicle fire at Peters Creek.

Firefighters and police are responding, the Anchorage Police Department reported.

Officials did not give an estimate on when the road might reopen. Peters Creek is about 20 miles north of Anchorage.
