How to keep ADN in your Facebook news feed

Facebook is changing the way it determines what appears in your news feed, putting a preference on status updates by friends and family. This means you're less likely to see fewer posts by businesses, brands and news organizations — like the Anchorage Daily News.

While this change might be a welcome relief to some, we know that many people use Facebook to get their news. Here are some simple steps to keep Anchorage Daily News in your news feed.

If you're using a desktop computer

From your news feed on Facebook, go to the left sidebar and click on the three dots next to "News Feed" and select "Edit Preferences."

In the pop-up window, click "Prioritize who to see first."

You'll see a list of pages and people you like on Facebook. Click on "Anchorage Daily News" to tell Facebook to prioritize our posts. Pages and people you've chosen to see first will be indicated by a blue star. After you've made your selections, click "Done."

Alternatively, you can make these changes straight from our page.

Beneath the cover photo, you'll see a couple of options, including one that says "following." Click or tap on that menu to change your notification and priority settings for our page. Choose to "See First" so you never miss an important news update.

If you're using a mobile device

On Facebook's iPhone app, tap the three bars on the bottom right corner to get to the main menu. Scroll down and tap "Settings," then "News Feed Preferences."

If you're using the Facebook app on an Android phone, tap on the three-bar icon in the main banner. Scroll down and tap "News Feed Preferences."

The next steps are the same for both Android and iPhone users: Tap "Prioritize who to see first" and select the pages you'd like to prioritize in your news feed, then hit "Done."

If you prefer to do this from our Facebook page in the mobile app, after you tap "Following," you will see an option to "Edit Notification Settings." Choose "See First" to prioritize our page.
