Bicyclist badly injured after he was struck by a pickup truck in East Anchorage, police say

A man on a bicycle was badly injured Friday night after he was struck by a pickup truck on Debarr Road in East Anchorage, police said.

The bicyclist, who was not identified by police, is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries in a local hospital, the Anchorage Police Department said.

Police said the collision was reported at 9:11 p.m.

"An initial scene investigation found that a 2002 Dodge Dakota truck was traveling westbound on Debarr when it collided with the bicyclist that had entered the roadway near Hoyt St.," a police statement said. The area is just east of Bragaw Street.

The driver of the truck, who wasn't identified, remained at the scene, was cooperative with police and hadn't been cited as of Saturday morning, police said.
