Several downtown Anchorage streets to be closed around midday Monday, Sept. 23

Several roads near the Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center and the Delaney Park Strip will be closed for a parade around midday on Monday, Sept. 23, police said.

Vehicle traffic on Seventh and Ninth Avenues between E and H Streets will be closed, as will E and H Streets between the Seventh and Ninth Avenues from 10:30 a.m. to about 1 p.m., police said.

The roads will be temporarily closed during the Parade of Nations, which kicks off the 57th Annual International Association of Women Police Training Conference. The conference, hosted in Anchorage for the third time, is from September 23-27, and will include more than 700 women from 43 countries, said police.

Spectators can watch the parade from any point along the route, but police suggest the best view may be from the Delaney Park Strip between E and H Street.

Roads are anticipated to be opened before 1 p.m. Monday, and police will provide an update if they are reopened early.
