Police identify man who died in fiery South Anchorage crash

Police have identified the driver killed in a fiery crash last week in South Anchorage as 27-year-old Frank Bavilla III.

The Anchorage Police Department offered no additional details, saying in a prepared statement that the collision remains under investigation.

Bavilla died early Friday in a single-vehicle rollover crash at Dimond Boulevard and C Street. His vehicle rolled several times at about 3:30 a.m., struck a light pole and caught fire at the intersection.

Besides Bavilla, police said there did not appear to be anyone else involved in the crash.
