Troopers: Man shot in arm during Butte home invasion

A man was shot and wounded during a Butte home invasion Thursday morning, and troopers say the suspects are still at large.

At about 1:15 a.m., Alaska State Troopers responded to a reported home invasion on Plumley Road, according to a dispatch posted online.

"Investigation revealed two people who were unknown to the homeowner entered the residence through a window," troopers wrote. "When the homeowner confronted the assailant with a firearm, an assailant shot the homeowner in the arm."

The homeowner was taken to the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center. One other person was in the home at the time of the shooting; troopers said the other occupant was unhurt.

Troopers spokesperson Megan Peters said in an email the injuries suffered by the homeowner, who was shot with a handgun, do not appear to be life-threatening.

A Wasilla Police Department K-9 unit responded and attempted to track down the suspects — who ran from the residence — but was unsuccessful. Members of the Alaska Bureau of Investigation were investigating the case Thursday.

The suspects, who were last spotted at the scene, haven't yet been identified.

Anyone with information on the suspects or their whereabouts is asked to call troopers' Palmer-based Criminal Suppression Unit at 907-745-2131.
