Kobuk man wanted in teen’s sexual abuse surrenders to troopers

A Kobuk man sought this month in connection with the sexual abuse of a minor has surrendered to Alaska State Troopers in the Western Alaska village.

Troopers said in a Monday dispatch that Clifton R. Sun, 53, turned himself in Friday to Kobuk troopers.

On July 13, troopers asked Kobuk residents for help finding Sun, who had been on the run for more than a year from charges of sexual abuse of a minor and sexual assault. The case stemmed from "an incident involving a 14-year-old victim in late May of 2015."

Troopers said Monday that Sun was taken to the Kotzebue jail on a no-bail warrant, pending his arraignment.
