Anchorage police nab suspects who allegedly broke into occupied home

Anchorage police say a woman hid and telephoned for help while two people burglarized her home Monday.

An Anchorage Police Department release says Suna Alavez Jr., 23, and Elijah Tuimoloau, 21, were arrested and charged with burglary and criminal mischief.

The woman was not hurt during the burglary, police said.

Dispatchers received the 911 call at 5:11 p.m. A woman reported she was home alone and hiding upstairs in her home.

"She reported she had heard people break in through her rear glass door and that she could still hear that they were inside on the first floor," the release says.

Officers responded to the residence on the 6200 block of Ophir Drive and two men tried to flee. Alavez Jr. was arrested at the scene while Tuimoloau was captured a short time later in a nearby trailer park, police said.

The suspects were taken to the Anchorage Correctional Complex.
