Wasilla man convicted of attempting to molest child

A federal jury in Anchorage convicted a 33-year-old Wasilla man on charges related to a 2015 visit to a motel to have sex with an 8-year-old girl.

The jury last week handed up a guilty verdict against Justin Raymond Nekeferoff on charges of attempted enticement of a minor and possession of child pornography.

A witness told authorities in 2015 that Nekeferoff had molested other children including 5-year-old and 15-year-old girls, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office in Anchorage. Nekeferoff also told police he used child pornography to "control his attraction to children."

Nekeferoff was arrested when he arrived at a Wasilla motel to meet a mother and her young daughter, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. The "mother" was an FBI agent and the 8-year-old was fictional.

The case was also investigated by the Anchorage Police Department's Crimes Against Children Unit.

His sentencing is scheduled for May 9.
