FBI releases video of armed man who robbed Anchorage bank

Federal authorities are looking for a man who robbed the Wells Fargo Russian Jack branch with a handgun Monday afternoon.

The robbery took place at the branch on DeBarr Road around 3:30 p.m., according to an FBI statement. The same branch was the target of an earlier robbery April 3.

The FBI described the suspect in the latest robbery as white and in his 50s, dressed entirely in black: pants, hoodie, sunglasses and bandanna covering his face.

An eight-second video clip the FBI released Tuesday shows the man entering the bank with a gun in his right hand. He raises the weapon into a sideways position as he moves toward the front counter as the video ends.

No one was injured in the robbery, according to the release from FBI spokeswoman Staci Feger-Pellessier. The man left in a black four-door sedan of unknown make and model.

The DeBarr branch was also robbed of "an undisclosed amount of cash" April 3, the FBI said at the time. Two suspects, one with a gun, were involved.

Feger-Pellessier said Tuesday it's unknown if the two robberies are related.

A Wells Fargo spokesman said in an email that the bank is thankful no one was injured during the robberies.

Counselors are available to support employees involved in the incidents, according to David Kennedy, Wells Fargo's Alaska-based spokesman.

Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 907-276-4441.
