Police take Anchorage homicide suspects into custody after 3-week search

Anchorage police took two homicide suspects into custody Thursday, three weeks after a 21-year-old man was shot and killed in a Mountain View apartment.

Mickee Thompson, 19, and Robert Smith, 18, were taken into custody without incident Thursday evening after police received a tip that they were in a residence in Anchorage's Spenard area, police said in an alert.

Since the shooting, police have blanketed social media with posts asking for the public's help finding the suspects, who were considered armed and dangerous.

Thompson and Smith each face charges of murder and evidence tampering, according to charging documents in the case.

Police say the victim, Sosaia Finau, was shot to death April 12 after an argument ensued between Finau's girlfriend and Thompson, her ex-boyfriend, in her apartment.
