Wasilla man who attacked former co-worker twice gets 95-year sentence

A 25-year-old Wasilla man was sentenced this week to nearly a century in prison for attacking a former co-worker not once but twice after he escaped house arrest.

Palmer Superior Court Judge Vanessa White sentenced Jordan King to serve 95 years in prison during a sentencing hearing Tuesday.

White also ordered King to register as a sex offender for life and recommended he serve his time at Juneau's Lemon Creek Correctional Center, according to log notes of the hearing. It's possible he'll actually serve far less time than his sentence.

King was convicted last November by a Palmer Superior Court jury in the 2016 kidnapping and sexual assault of a former co-worker as well as the attack that preceded it.

In March 2016, he was awaiting trial on charges that he assaulted Shawna Robb in December 2015 when he escaped house arrest and abducted Robb.

Robb, 41, testified during the trial that she suffered a 12-hour ordeal during which she was sexually assaulted twice after being led through the woods on a dog leash with her hands bound.

Robb's family blames state authorities for the second attack: They say no one told Robb that King had escaped house arrest at his parents' and could be coming for her.

Robb in December filed a civil lawsuit seeking more than $100,000 in damages from the Alaska State Troopers, the state Department of Law that oversees prosecutors, and others. The suit contends the failure to notify her about King's escape caused her kidnap and rape.
