Aniak woman charged in stabbing death of brother

A 61-year-old Aniak woman stabbed her brother to death, according to charging documents filed Friday in the homicide case against her.

Ellenore Kvamme and Ralph Kvamme lived in the same pink and green house on the Kuskokwim River.

Two troopers arrived at the house early on Wednesday. They'd heard that Ralph had been stabbed, according to the charging documents.

Inside, the troopers found the 58-year-old man dead in a recliner chair. He'd been stabbed in the chest.

The troopers discovered a bloody 13-inch bowie knife in the kitchen sink. Ralph's older sister Ellenore "stated she stabbed her brother in the chest and he was now dead," the charges say.

She also told troopers she was drunk and had taken an "unknown pill." She had blood on her clothes, troopers wrote.

Troopers found empty bottles of whiskey and cups of alcohol in the house.

Ellenore Kvamme is charged with a single court of second-degree murder. Her next court hearing was set for Oct. 1 in Aniak.
