Two charged in alleged stabbing and restraint of woman in East Anchorage

Anchorage police say officers arrived on the scene of an assault and attempted kidnapping of a woman in progress due to a hang-up emergency call.

Brandon Kendrick, 25, and Falesha Taylor, 28, have both been charged with assault and attempted kidnapping, according to the Anchorage Police Department.

Officers responded to the hang-up call in the area of East 43rd Avenue and McClean Place around 1 a.m. Tuesday. They found a black SUV in the roadway and observed a man, later identified as Kendrick, standing outside the vehicle. Police say two women were inside the SUV, shouting that they'd been stabbed.

One of the women appeared to have her hands bound a bandana around her neck, according to the police department.

The women were taken to local hospitals and treated for stab wounds.

Investigators determined one of the victims drove to the home of Kendrick and Taylor to get some personal belongings. Kendrick approached the car and started hitting her through her car window; Taylor also joined the assault, according to APD.

"The female victim was able to call 911 but stated that Kendrick grabbed the phone from her and hung up. The female reached for a knife in her center console and stabbed Taylor. The female was then reportedly stabbed by Kendrick," police said of the altercation.

The suspects then gagged and bound the victim but police arrived shortly thereafter. Police initially said the women had fought in the vehicle with each other, inflicting non life-threatening injuries; they said the women shared a mutual friend.
