Colony Middle School to reopen a day earlier than expected following 7.0 quake

Students at Colony Middle School in Palmer will be able to return to school on Tuesday, a day earlier than previously expected following a long closure for repairs after the 7.0 earthquake on Nov. 30.

“Good news!” said Mary Fulp, in an email to parents Friday.

Staff will return Monday, also one day earlier than expected.

The quake caused extensive damage to the ceiling grid and tile, leading to a more than two-week closure.

“We know this has been a huge disruption for our school community. We are excited to be back together!” Fulp’s email said.
