City of Nenana issues boil water notice due to leak

FAIRBANKS — The city of Nenana has issued a boil water notice after a leak was discovered in the city's water main.

Cindy Christian, the drinking water program manager for the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, told the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner that the department was notified of the break by Tanana Chiefs Conference on Thursday.

As of Friday, the leak was repaired and the pipe had been flushed.

The department is waiting on water test results before it can lift the water boil notice.

The city advised residents in a Facebook post to boil water for three minutes and then let it cool to room temperature.

Nenana is located about 55 miles south of Fairbanks.
