Troopers: Body found in Jim Creek area of Butte

PALMER — Alaska State Troopers say they are investigating the discovery of a body Saturday in Butte.

Troopers received notification of a dead person in the Jim Creek area just before 3:30 p.m. Saturday, according to spokeswoman Megan Peters. The body was transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Anchorage.

Peters said Monday morning there was no additional information available.

The trail to Jim Creek is a popular recreation destination and is near neighborhoods off Sullivan Road in Butte. The area is known as a party spot in summer and is a frequent search location for missing people.
