1 dead, 3 injured in motorcycle-Jeep collision in Wasilla

Update, 12:05 p.m. Wednesday: Alaska State Troopers on Wednesday identified the deceased motorcycle passenger as 32-year-old Jayme Donoho, of Wasilla. The injured driver was identified as 35-year-old Brandon Haxton, of Wasilla.

The Jeep's driver was 65-year-old Sepasetiano Laumatia, of Wasilla, and the passenger was 52-year-old Pela Laumatia, troopers say. An investigation continues.

Original story: A passenger on a motorcycle died in a collision that also injured three others Tuesday in Wasilla, Alaska State Troopers said.

Troopers said they first got the call at 11:18 a.m. about the collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle near the intersection of Knik-Goose Bay Road and West Commadore Lane in Wasilla.

The motorcycle was heading outbound on Knik-Goose Bay Road when another vehicle, a 2010 Jeep, pulled in front of it from Commadore Lane, troopers said in a dispatch.

The motorcycle — a 2003 Kawasaki — hit the Jeep's driver-side front quarter panel, troopers said. Two people on the motorcycle were ejected from their seats.

The passenger on the motorcycle died in the collision, and the driver was flown to an Anchorage hospital with serious injuries, said troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters. Troopers were working to notify the deceased's next of kin.

The Jeep's driver and passenger were transported to a hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Mat-Su emergency responders were called around 12:45 p.m., said Ken Barkley, Matanuska-Susitna Borough deputy director of emergency services. Barkley said the two vehicles had gotten into a "T-bone accident."

When medics arrived, bystanders were already performing CPR on one of the people involved in the crash, Barkley said. He said the vehicle involved in the collision was a Jeep Compass compact SUV.

Alaska State Troopers had re-routed traffic in the area, Barkley said.
