Man charged with manslaughter, DUI after girlfriend run over by truck on Prince of Wales Island

A 26-year-old woman from the Southeast Alaska island community of Klawock died after being run over by a pickup truck driven by her boyfriend, who now faces manslaughter charges, according to Alaska State Troopers.

The incident happened about 7:11 p.m. Tuesday on a road north of Naukati, a small community on Prince of Wales Island, troopers said in a Wednesday dispatch. George Huffine, 44, of Klawock was driving his 2005 Toyota Tundra south on the road, troopers said.

His girlfriend Trinity Kriener, 26, was a passenger in the pickup, troopers said.

Huffine told investigators the two were having an argument when Kriener jumped out of the truck, troopers said. She was then run over by the rear tires of the truck, troopers said.

Kriener was pronounced dead while being taken to a clinic in Klawock, troopers said. Huffine was later arrested. He has been charged with manslaughter and driving under the influence in connection with Kriener's death, troopers said.

About 830 people live in Klawock, which is about 56 air miles west of Ketchikan.

Troopers asked anyone who witnessed the Toyota Tundra driving north of Naukati on Tuesday, or who had spoken to either person earlier in the day near Red Bay or El Capitan, to contact the Prince of Wales state troopers post at 907-826-2918.
