The crash occurred just before 4 p.m. near Mile 104 Sterling Highway, south of Soldotna. She died at the scene. Armstrong’s husband was 1984 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race champ Osmar of Kasilof. His son Tim Osmar won the Yukon Quest sled dog race in 2001.

Sgt. Derek Loop said the roads were slick, standard for this time of year on the peninsula.
