2 pedestrians dead in separate East Anchorage collisions

Two pedestrians were killed overnight in separate East Anchorage collisions, according to a statement from police.

Charles Delgado was longboarding across Boundary Avenue, east of Boniface Parkway, at about 9:19 p.m. Tuesday when he was hit by a westbound motorcyclist, Anchorage Police Lt. Dave Parker reported in a media release. Delgado was wearing dark clothing at the time he was hit. An ambulance delivered Delgado to doctors but he was dead within seven hours.

The second collision, killing a woman in her twenties, came just a few miles away and less than five hours after Delgado was hit. The woman, as-yet unidentified by police attempting to notify her family, was crossing Boniface near its intersection at 4th Avenue with two other women about 1:44 a.m. Wednesday, police reported. There was no crosswalk where they entered the street; the area was poorly lit and the women had been drinking, according to Parker's report:

She was hospitalized in critical condition and declared dead sometime after 5 a.m.

Anyone who saw either collision or who has information that may help Anchorage police in their investigations was urged to call 907-786-8830.
