This week: Free mammograms in Anchorage

Providence Alaska Medical Center has announced free breast screenings this week for women, according to the hospital's website. Mammograms are available to women ages 40-64 who are uninsured, underinsured, with high insurance deductibles or who meet "income guidelines." Call the hospital's mammogram hotline at (907) 212-7966 for more information and to schedule an appointment. You'll get an answering machine; leave a message and should receive a call back "within one business day." Alaska Dispatch recommends calling as soon as you read this: the free mammograms are only available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and women must have an appointment to get in. The income guidelines or threshold for "high insurance deductibles" are not published on the Providence website.
