12-year-old Fairbanks boy fatally shot

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports that on Wednesday, a 12-year old boy was fatally shot at a Fairbanks residence, apparently by another 12-year old boy.

The victim has been identified as Malik Boykins. Boykins did not live at the house where the shooting occurred, which was located at Susitna court in the Birchwood Homes neighborhood, Lt. Dan Welborn told the News-Miner. The boy who shot him does live there.

The shooting was reported around 3:30 p.m. None of the neighbors or several children outside the house reported hearing gunfire. It is not yet publicly known who reported the shooting.
