High school divers around Anchorage set forth on their quest to compete on the state level today in the Cook Inlet Conference Championships.
Preliminary diving starts at 4:30 p.m. at Bartlett High.
Among the CIC's top divers in the state: Renee Jordan of East, Rachel Klachner of Service, Lindsey Veit of South and Rachel RoseFigura of West.
Swimming gets under way Friday with preliminary races beginning at 3 p.m., followed by Saturday afternoon's championship heats and dives.
East High's freshman sensation Sam Wicks is among the state's top five girls swimmers in 7 of 8 individual events.
Tanner Armstrong of Bartlett highlight's the boys field. The senior is a top-five swimmer in five individual events.
East's girls relay team is No. 1 in Alaska for the 200-yard medley and 200 freestyle.
Dimond's boys are the favorite in the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay.
