The UAA gymnastics team opens its 25th season Friday at the University of Washington and faces Seattle Pacific University on Saturday.
Although the roster does not include any seniors, there are five returning letter-winners and five freshmen.
Junior Lauren Agostino, a 2006 NCAA West Regional all-around qualifier, returns after taking last season off, and fellow junior Meagan Byrne will serve as captain for the second season.
All-arounder Shakea Sanders of Federal Way, Wash., is expected to lead the freshman class.
During preseason the Seawolves lost two key gymnasts when sophomore Kelsey Fullerton and junior Micki Cole suffered shoulder injuries requiring surgery. Fullerton will not participate this season, while Cole plans to redshirt.
UAA opens its home season on Jan. 16 at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.
