UAA women slip to sixth

Two losses last week cost the UAA women's basketball team four spots in the NCAA Division II rankings this week. Top-ranked heading into a pair of road games last week, the Seawolves (24-2) are now ranked sixth in the nation as they head into two more road games this week. UAA plays Central Washington on Thursday and Western Washington on Saturday.

Claiming the No. 1 spot is Minnesota State-Mankato, which improved to 24-1 and moved from the No. 3 spot after grabbing 24 of the 27 first-place votes.

Also getting first-place votes was Fort Lewis, which dropped from No. 2 to No. 4 despite not losing a game; and Northern Kentucky, the defending national champion which moved from No. 4 to No. 2, essentially trading places with Fort Lewis.

The No. 3 spot went to California of Pennsylvania and the No. 5 spot belongs to Emporia State of Kansas.

UAA's losses came against Seattle Pacific and Northwest Nazarene. Seattle Pacific, ranked 14th last year, shot up to 10th win the win over the Seawolves.
