Engel, Anderson lead Dimond girls over East

With two games left in the Cook Inlet Conference schedule, Dimond's boys basketball team is saving its best for last as the Lynx rallied to beat the East T-birds 78-67 at home.

Ryan Hanley's 19 points and 11 rebounds led five Lynx who reached double figures in scoring. Chris Plooy added 17 points and sank 11 of 20 free throws to help Dimond rally from a 37-30 halftime deficit.

The Lynx (20-2 overall, 12-1) stretched their winning streak to 14 games and remained in a tie for first place with West.

The T-birds (10-10, 7-6) enjoyed a game-high 25 points from Tevin Timberlake.

West reached the century mark for the third time this season as the Eagles waltzed past Service at home.

Mike Russell dropped in a game-high 22 points and Tom Feeney Jr. added 15, helping the Eagles (17-4, 12-1) keep pace with Dimond in the CIC standings with one game to go in the regular season.

Dennis Krymski's 13 points led the Cougars (2-19, 1-12).

The visiting Mustangs took a 15-5 run into halftime and used it to win their third consecutive conference game.

Josh Williams led all scorers with 17 points and Dustin Theis chipped in 14 points for Chugiak (12-9, 7-6).

Kevin Cousin and Spenser McLean each led the Wolverines (6-13, 2-11) with 12 points.

Bartlett is all alone in third place in the CIC standings after using a strong first half to win on the road in Eagle River.

Malik King and Damon Sherman-Newsome each had a good night, scoring 17 points apiece for the Golden Bears (13-8, 8-5), who won their third straight conference game.

Eli Yaw scored 20 points for the Wolves (6-15, 3-10).
