Today in the Alaska Baseball League

PILOTS: vs. Athletes in Action, 7 p.m., Mulcahy Stadium

AROUND THE HORN

-- The Athletes in Action couldn't recover from a seven-run deficit Wednesday, and fell to the Mat-Su Miners 8-4. The Miners registered five runs in the third inning, including catcher Bobby Jacobs' two-RBI single. Nick Cox went 3 for 5 with one RBI and two runs.

-- Kellen Kiilsgaard doubled to left center to drive Jason Martinson for the game winner in the bottom of the ninth, helping the Bucs edge the Glacier Pilots 3-2. With the victory, the Bucs remain in a first-place tie with the Miners and the Pilots sink to second.

-- Due to heavy smoke in the Fairbanks area, the Peninsula Oilers vs. Goldpanners game is rescheduled for Friday, when they will play a doubleheader.

-- On Sunday, fans and players will pay tribute to the founder of the Alaska Baseball League in the annual Red Boucher Night at the Ballpark, when the Bucs host the Panners at 7 p.m. at Mulcahy Stadium. Boucher managed the Panners from 1958 to 1969 and served as Lieutenant Governor of Alaska from 1970 to 1974. He passed away June 19, 2009.
