Brooks, Ronsee in top 3

A day after ceding the top of the victory podium to Americans, Canadian skiers prevailed Sunday at a Continental Cup freestyle sprint race at Silver Star, British Columbia. That meant Anchorage's Holly Brooks -- who has won four races on the SuperTour and Continental Cup circuits in recent weeks, including a freestyle race Saturday at Silver Star -- had to settle for a silver medal instead of a gold. Brooks placed second in the women's finals to Canada's Daria Gaiazova. Anchorage's Katie Ronsee, who trains with Brooks at the Alaska Pacific University Nordic Program, was third.

Canada's Phil Widmer won the men's sprint by beating Garrott Kuzzy of the U.S. Ski Team.
