Moses keys Service girls' 6-5 softball win

Service beat West 6-5 on Thursday in Cook Inlet Conference girls softball at Wendler Junior High.

Sydney Moses' two-run double sparked a three-run first inning for Service, but West matched those runs in the bottom of the inning.

The Cougars rallied for three more runs in the top of the second and controlled the game from there.

The Cougars' catcher, Cory Jackson, recorded a triple, an RBI and scored two runs.

South 16, Colony 5

Sammie Fowkes pitched a three-hitter and went 3 for 4 with four RBIs, helping South rout Colony 16-5 in girls nonconference softball Thursday night at Bumpus Field.

South's Kayla Schoefful went 2 for 4 and scored twice.

South 19 Wasilla 3

Rhema Dutton pitched a one-hitter with five strikeouts and hit a solo home run Thursday, paving the way to a 19-3 victory over Wasilla in nonconference girls softball at Bumpus Field.

South's Cheyenne Fausett scored three runs and played an error-free game.
