AROUND THE HORN

• The Bucs and Pilots are both coming off three-game road sweeps as they head into tonight's match at Mulcahy, the only game today in the ABL. The Bucs have dropped seven straight, and the Pilots have lost three in a row.

• Adam Landecker's two-out error in the ninth inning gave the Miners the break they needed in a 2-1 win over the Pilots that completed Mat-Su's three-game home sweep. The Miners opened the ninth with a single by Wesley Thigpen, who moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and third on groundout before breaking a 1-1 tie by scoring on the error.

The win came despite a strong showing by Pilot starter Tom Harlan, who struck out seven in 6 1/3 innings. The Pilots gave him a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning, but the Oilers tied it in the seventh.

• The Goldpanners rallied with two outs in the ninth inning, scoring four runs on four hits to beat Athletes in Action 12-9 and winning their fifth in a row. Trailing 9-8, Derrick Chung started the rally with a ground-rule double and, one walk later, Evan Simonitsch followed with a two-run double that provided the tying and go-ahead runs.
